SENSOTEC INSTRUMENTS has participated in the AGUARICS project, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the management of reclaimed water networks through the integration of advanced digital technologies. The project, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the Innovative Business Clusters (AEI) grant program, aims to develop and implement innovative solutions that enable real-time monitoring, predictive management, and enhanced safety in urban water infrastructure.
At a time when water resources are considered crucial for Spain, with the goal of optimizing water use, AGUARICS champions digitalization as a fundamental tool to guarantee quality and optimize the system. The project integrates technologies such as IoT, advanced data analytics, digital twins, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, aligning with the principles of Smart Cities and the ecological transition.
SENSOTEC’s participation has been key to the deployment of an advanced sensor network capable of capturing critical data on the quality and hydraulic behavior of reclaimed water. With the design and implementation of physicochemical measurement elements for the network, the data provided is integrated into an interoperable digital platform that will allow for real-time visualization, automation of operational processes, and early detection of network anomalies.
One of the technological pillars of AGUARICS is the development of a digital twin of the water infrastructure, capable of simulating operational scenarios, anticipating incidents, and optimizing decision-making. This tool will allow for the evaluation of the impact of potential variations in the network, water quality, or demand, reducing risks and improving the system’s resilience to climatic events or technical failures.
Furthermore, the project incorporates a specific cybersecurity study that guarantees data protection and the robustness of the digital infrastructure.
With a clear focus on scalability and replicability, AGUARICS is designed as a model that can be exported to other municipalities and distribution networks, contributing to more efficient, safe, and sustainable management of reclaimed water in urban areas.
The project is driven by the Catalan Water Partnership in collaboration with the Smart City Cluster and involves a consortium of technology companies, research centers, and businesses specializing in the water sector. SENSOTEC contributes its expertise and products to this group for measuring physical parameters (flow rate, pressure, temperature, etc.), chemical parameters (pH, ORP, conductivity, free chlorine, etc.), and biological parameters (E. coli).
