RTDs are temperature sensors whose resistance varies with temperature. This variation is proportional and repetitive. The variation behaves under the formula Rt=R0 *(1+α*t).
The most common in the industry field, incorporate sensors PT100 (100 Ohm to 0ºC) and PT1000 (1000 Ohm to 0ºC). However, there are normalised other types of sensors that we can incorporate to our probes: PT50 , PT200 , PT500 Ni100 , Ni120 , Ni1000, Cu10 , Cu50 , NTP , PTC.
Temperature probes in addition to the type of sensor, are conditioned by all the constructive elements that vary depending on the application and the operating temperature.
Inmersor. Includes a zone where the measuring element is housed, it is a bulb of a specific length and diameter. The constrictive materials are generally metals: different types of stainless steel, inconel, hastelloy, monel, etc.
The inner isolation can be ceramic, magnesium oxide, or “encamisadas” that can support high vibrations and temperatures thanks to the compact isolation.
Head. Defines the electrical connection area. It can be a head of different shapes and standards (Din B, DIN, Cl, guaB, etc.), a connector or direct cable output.
The heads can also accommodate an electronic amplifier (transmitter or micro-converter) with configurable temperature range and different types of output signal (4-20 mA, HART, data bus, etc.)
Process connection. Define the way fixing the process. They can be threaded connections (1/4 “, ½” type GAS, BSP or NPT, DIN flanges, non-standard flanges, connections Bayonet, etc.)
